Russia has about 20-25% of the world's reserves of rare earth elements, which is about 20-25 million tons, according to Sergey Kirillov, associate professor of the Department of Rare Metals and Nanomaterials at the Ural Federal University (UrFU). China, which is in first place in terms of reserves of these elements, controls about 35% of the world's rare earth resources, but experts argue about who holds the second place - it is either Russia or Brazil.
